Celebrities Love Platinum Engagement Rings!
Platinum has been one of the favorite precious metals for engagement rings for a century. With superior strength, tarnish proof luster, pure white color, and substantial weight, platinum earns the higher than gold price tag it fetches. Many brides and grooms find platinum engagement rings falling outside their budget, but celebrities are famous for not only the films they star in and the songs they sing, but also for throwing extravagant weddings and purchasing extremely expensive diamond engagement rings. The prestige and glamour of platinum has earned it a place in many celebrity engagements.
With a baby on board, Fantastic Four cast member Cash Warren proposed to Jessica Alba in style with a classic Platinum engagement ring complete with a 5-carat center diamond. Jessica Alba’s platinum engagement ring is valued at about $150k. The ring is classy, simple, and romantic, with a center diamond that is surrounded by a row of micro-pave diamonds.
Black Eyed Peas vixen and solo artist Stacy Ferguson, or Fergie, received a platinum engagement ring from Josh Duhamel also valued at $150k. Her ring is a very simple design that works to showcase her beautiful round 4 ½ carat brilliant cut diamond, surrounded by smaller colored diamonds. Fergie and Transformer’s star Josh were married in January of this year, and she added a platinum and diamond wedding band to match. Josh Duhamel’s opted against platinum and wears a wedding ring that is white gold with a brushed finish.
Rapper Jay-Z and singer Beyonce were married back in 2008 after he proposed to her with a $5 million 18 carat emerald cut diamond and platinum Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring. Lorraine Schwartz is a favorite celebrity jewelry designer who has also created engagement rings for Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, and Christina Aguilera. Beyonce’s engagement ring is so valuable that it has been reported she wears a fake when out in public.
Jared Kushner proposed to now wife Ivanka Trump with a diamond and platinum engagement ring from her own jewelry line, a 5.22-carat cushion cut engagement ring complete with a diamond-studded platinum band. When Ivanka and Jared were married she added a small platinum wedding band.
Another engagement, thanks to Ivanka Trumps signature collection, was between 27 year-old R&B singer Christina Milian and producer The-Dream. Christina’s engagement ring from Trump’s jewelry line is a stunning six-carat diamond in a platinum setting. Milian has never been married before, but The-Dream was wed to singer Nivea whom he split from in late 2007.
Melissa Rycroft from the hit reality shows The Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars received a Neil Lane Diamond and platinum engagement ring from insurance salesman Tye Strickland. The couple met in their hometown and became engaged just four months after Melissa was second runner up on The Bachelorette. Melissa and Tye were a couple before, but split up right before the airing of the show. Her ring is valued at $60k with a platinum band crowned with a center 2-carat pear shaped diamond surrounded six baguettes and 94 round diamonds.
